1. Locate all necessary documents proving your Italian lineage.
2. Apply for confirmation of your Italian citizenship.
3. Apply for your Italian passport.

Eligibility

• A single ancestor who was an Italian citizen and died after 1861.
• No criminal record or proceeding in any country.
• You must have been born to either an Italian citizen parent or a parent with the right to claim Italian citizenship.
• You must have direct blood lineage.

General Requirements for Italian Citizenship by Descent

1. Application form
2. Passport photos
3. Copy of your passport
4. Original birth certificate
5. Original marriage certificate (if applicable)
6. Original Birth certificates, marriage certificates and death certificates for every ascendant up your familiar line including your Italian ancestor
7. Letter stating the reason you are applying for citizen
8. Criminal Record clearance

Notes

• All documents must be certified by the appropriate government authority
• All documents must have an official apostille
• All non Italian documents must have an official and certified translation
